LAMONI, Iowa – The Raven Men's Basketball team bounced back from a mid-week loss on Saturday as they picked up a 65-61 win over Graceland University.
Benedictine (16-12, 14-8 Heart) held a four-point halftime lead over Graceland and then made that stick in the second half as they earned the four-point road win.
After the Yellowjackets built a four-point lead early in the game, the Ravens answered with a 12-4 run that erased the deficit and pushed Benedictine in front by six points. After playing to the game's second tie at 16-16, the Ravens closed out the first half outscoring the Yellowjackets to take the lead into halftime.
Graceland opened the second half strong quickly erasing Benedictine's halftime lead and earning their second lead of the game inside the first five minutes of the second half. Benedictine used a 20-3 run over the next six minutes of the game to not only erase Graceland's lead but turn their three-point deficit into a 14-point lead.
The Yellowjackets gradually began to chip away at the Ravens lead over the final minutes of the second half but could never pull closer than four in the final seconds of the game.
Eric Krus led the Ravens with a game-high 17 points as he went 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. Jaiden Bristol added a double-double pulling in 11 rebounds while adding 15 points. The Ravens finished with a 31-17 advantage off the bench, anchored by scoring effort by Krus while the Ravens also held a 14-point advantage in the paint.
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Ravens are tied with Peru State College for third place in the Heart Standings. Benedictine travels to Olathe on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game with MNU who sits a game behind the Ravens and the Bobcats. Benedictine closes out the regular season at home on Saturday with a 4 p.m. game against Central Methodist University.
