NEVADA, Mo. – Softball was finally able to get back on a field Saturday as they added two games to the schedule against Midland University and Cottey College.
The Ravens traveled to the Cottey campus after the scheduled for Friday-Saturday tournament in Springfield, Mo., at Evangel University was altered because of higher-than-expected snow showers in the region on Thursday.
Benedictine fell to Midland 6-2 before taking their game over Cottey 12-5.
Against Midland, Alex Gilham earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She threw a complete game in the loss giving up five earned runs off 10 hits with three strikeouts.
At the plate, the Ravens scored their two runs off seven hits. Kylie Hays went 2 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and run scored. Blair Shanks drove in the Ravens remaining run as she went 1 for 3.
In the win over Cottey, Quinn Ruff and Abby Pressgrove combined for the win inside the circle. Ruff threw six innings, giving up four earned runs off seven hits with two strikeouts. Presgrove finished off the game, holding Cottey scoreless in one inning of work.
At the plate, the Ravens finished with 13 hits, four for extra bases. Pressgrove and Megan Medhus finished with a home run while Halley Rindom and Lenae Salinas added a double each. Rindom and Molly Chevalier finished with three RBI each while Medhus added two.
Benedictine is scheduled to host Morningside College on Saturday out at the BC Softball Field - weather permitting.
