CANTON, Mo. – Culver-Stockton College used a 21-point fourth quarter to keep the Raven Women's Basketball team at arm's length on Saturday as they picked up a 71-64 win.
The game started off strong for Benedictine as they jumped ahead to an 8-0 lead before they took a 19-16 lead into the second quarter. A pair of free throws by Culver-Stockton inside the first minute of the second quarter gave the Wildcats their first lead of the game. The Wildcats were able to do just enough to remain in front for the remainder of the second quarter to take a 38-34 lead into halftime.
Benedictine used a 19-point third quarter to regain the lead as they opened the quarter outscoring Culver-Stockton 15-5 to pull ahead by six points midway through the third quarter. The Ravens remained in front, taking a 53-50 lead into the fourth quarter after LaRanda Thomas hit a pair of free throws late in the third quarter.
Culver-Stockton scored 10 of their 21 fourth-quarter points from the free throw line where they shot 74.1 percent for the game.
Skylar Washington led the Ravens in scoring with 21 points and she connected on 5 3-pointers while Thomas added 12 going 4 for 4 at the charity stripe,
The Ravens return home for the start of a three-game homestand starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday as they host Missouri Valley College.
