The 2020 season got underway on Friday and Saturday for the Raven Volleyball team as they took to the road to take on Missouri Valley College on Friday in Marshall, Mo., before wrapping up their trip with a match against Central Methodist University on Saturday in Fayette, Mo.

Benedictine earned a 3-0 win over Missouri Valley 25-21, 25-13, 25-23 before suffering a 3-0 loss against CMU, 25-18, 25-18, 25-23

In the win over Missouri Valley, the Ravens finished the match with 32 kills off a .144 hitting effort. Haylie Dickerson led the team in kills with eight, followed by Grace Millard with seven.

Setting the way for the offensive attack was Marea Wortmann with 30 assists as the team finished with 32.

Defensively, Megan Luby led the team with 18 digs while Dickerson finished with one solo block and three block assists.

In the loss to CMU, Mary Pat Taylor led the Ravens with eight as Benedictine finished with 33 kills off a .156 hitting effort.

Wortmann set up the attack again, leading the team with 15 assists while Lucy Vocey added seven.

Defensively, Luby finished with 10 digs while Emily Demos finished with two solo blocks and one block assist.

The Ravens return home for a full week of action. Tuesday, the Ravens host Evangel University at 7 p.m. After returning to the road on Thursday for a match at Culver-Stockton College, the return home to host Peru State College on Friday at 7 p.m. and Graceland University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
