Football closes out Heart cross-divisional play with statement win over (RV) Culver-Stockton

Ravens Football picked up a statement win on their home field Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens defeated the (RV) Culver-Stockton College Wildcats 65-24, their third-straight win on the season.

The Ravens forced four Wildcats turnovers on the day, which helped swing momentum in the Ravens favor and away from the potent CSC offense.

The home squad built a strong 27-10 halftime lead. After the Wildcats scored the game's opening touchdown, the Ravens answered with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Garrett Kettle to Jacob Gathright. It was just the start of Kettle's big game.

Tre Adger was on the receiving end of Kettle's next scoring pass, this time a 28-yard touchdown, to give the Ravens a 14-10 lead. Next up was a 10-yard rushing touchdown for Kettle, then he found Adger again late in the first half for another touchdown pass to give the Ravens a 17-point advantage at the break.

The Wildcats struck first in the second half to cut the Ravens lead to 10 points, but Kettle had another answer. On third-and-15 from the Ravens own 37-yard line, Kettle dropped back to pass but couldn't find any open receivers. The quarterback tucked the ball and took off, avoiding multiple defenders on a 63-yard touchdown run.

A pair of Rayshon Mills touchdown runs put the Ravens up 48-17, then Luke Laskowski stepped in for Kettle and hit Reed Levi for an 8-yard strike through the air to put the Ravens up 55-17 after three quarters of play.

After a Culver-Stockton score and a Cullen Bruner field goal, Laskowski found Levi once again, this time for an 83-yard touchdown pass to put a bow on a dominant offensive performance.

Kettle finished the game with 260 yards and three touchdowns through the air while also adding 140 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Levi caught five passes for 129 yards, Gathright has three catches for 120 yards, and Adger turned three catches into 56 yards.

As a team, the Ravens passed for 369 yards and rushed for 225.

Jalen James led a strong defensive effort for the Ravens, notching 11 tackles and one sack. Tyler Tierney added 7 tackles and Konner Walker had 6 tackles. Dominic Stoneking recorded an interception for the Ravens, and the team forced and recovered three CSC fumbles.

The Wildcats totaled 392 yards on offense, but were held 17 points below their season average.

The Ravens (4-2) enter their idle week with a three-game winning streak. They will return to action Saturday, Oct. 16 at Central Methodist University.
