Football returns to the road to face off with No. 5 Baker University

The next chapter in the rivalry will be written today as Raven Football travels to Baldwin City, Kan., to take on No. 5 Baker University. Kickoff from Liston Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. as Benedictine looks to even the standings in the Heart South. 

THE MATCHUP: Today's meeting with Baker marks the 39th meeting between the two schools with the Wildcats holding a 22-15-1 series lead. The two teams met in a rare Thanksgiving Day match-up last season on O'Malley Field where the Wildcats earned a 19-6. The last time the Ravens earned a win over the Wildcats was during their historic 2018 run where they earned a 23-12 win in Baldwin City.

ABOUT BENEDICTINE: The Ravens have the second-highest scoring offense overall in the Heart headed into week three of conference play. They are averaging 42.8 points per game through eight games while limiting their opponents to just 24.6. ... The Ravens have averaged 271 yards passing through the first eight weeks of the season for a second-place ranking overall in the Heart. That number has jumped to 319.5 per game in Heart South play, which leads the South heading into week three. ... Garrett Kettle currently has 18 passing TDs on the season, the single-season record for passing TDs is 27 and was set by Sheafer Schuetz during the 2017 season.

ABOUT BAKER: JD Woods is zeroing in on a 1,000-yard rushing season for the Wildcats as he currently has 982 yards off 148 carries for an average of 122.8 yards per game. He has rushed for 20 touchdowns while also passing for another. ... Defensively, the Wildcats have limited their opponents to 18.1 points per game this season while averaging 40.9 points – third overall in the Heart. In two Heart South games, the Wildcats have averaged 48 points. ... The Wildcats lead the Heart in total offense with 458.3 yards per game with a total of 3,666 yards – also a top mark in the Heart.
