Raven Volleyball took to the road on Friday and Saturday for a pair of Heart cross-divisional matches as they swept Mount Mercy University 3-0 on Friday before wrapping up the trip with a 3-2 win over Clarke University on Saturday.
Friday night, the Ravens used 44 kills in their 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 sweep over the Mustangs. Regan Bruggeman led the team with 14 kills hitting .212 for the match. Haylie Dickerson added 9 on .444 hitting to round out the Ravens top hitters. Marea Wortmann anchored the attack, recording 36 assists.
Defensively, three Ravens finished with double figures in digs. Megan Luby led the backline with 22 digs, followed by Kristijana Istuk with 19 while Mary Pat Taylor added 12. Dickerson, Taylor, and Maggie Schoening led the defensive effort at the net with two block assists each.
Saturday's match with Clarke needed five sets to decide the final outcome. The Ravens won sets two and three before the Pride won the fourth set. Benedictine clinched the match with a 15-6 win in the fifth.
Three Ravens finished in double figures in kills, led by Taylor with 22 off a .286 attack percentage. Dickerson finished with 16 off a .367 attack percentage while Joslyn Lewis added 14 off a .206 attack percentage. Marea Wortmann anchored the offensive attack which finished with a total of 68 kills and a .202 attack percentage with 59 assists.
Defensively, Istuk anchored the backline with 25 digs. Taylor finished with 14 while Wortmann added 10.
The Ravens return to the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium on Tuesday as they open a five-match homestand against Baker University at 7 p.m.
