Football sends Seniors out with 70-58 win over MNU Pioneers

Offense was the name of the game in the Ravens Football finale on Saturday.

The Ravens defeated the MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers 70-58 at Larry Wilcox Stadium.

It was a record-setting day for Ravens quarterback Garrett Kettle. He opened the scoring with a passing score to Austin Buteaux 4 minutes into the contest. The Pioneers answered with their own score to tie the game, 7-7.

Kettle used his legs for the next score, a 30-yard quarterback-keeper. After an MNU field goal, Kettle connected with Jacob Gathright for a 74-yard touchdown pass to give the Ravens a 21-10 lead. The Pioneers answered once again, scoring on a touchdown pass to cut the Ravens lead to 21-17 after one quarter of play.

The Ravens continued to have success in the second quarter as Rayshon Mills scored three rushing touchdowns, two from 1-yard out and the third was a 15-yard rush. MNU added one second-quarter touchdown and the Ravens took a 42-24 lead into halftime.

The offenses didn't slow down in the second half. The Pioneers scored first in the second half to cut the Ravens lead to 42-31. Kettle and the Ravens answered with a touchdown pass to Harry Balke.

After another MNU touchdown, Kettle fired back-to-back touchdown passes to Tre Adger (36 yards) and Gathright (53 yards) to put the Ravens up 63-38.

The Pioneers answered with two touchdowns in a row before Kettle notched his final passing score of the day, a 7-yard strike to Harry O'Neill.

Kettle finished the game with 358 yards passing and 6 touchdowns through the air – a new single-game Ravens record for touchdown passes. Kettle also rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.

The Ravens run game was strong as well, with Mills running for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns, and 306 yards on the ground.

O'Neill's five receptions were a team-high for the Ravens as nine different players caught a pass in the game.

Defensively, Jalen James led the way with 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and an interception. Tyler Tierney added 10 tackles and Javhi Bloomquist recorded 9 tackles.

MNU's Adrian Parsons threw for 659 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The Ravens finish the season with a record of 7-4 in Head Coach Joel Osborn's first full season with the program.
