Football heads to Nixa, Mo., to take on Evangel University in road finale

NIXA, Mo. – Raven Football wraps up their regular-season road schedule on Saturday as they take on the Evangel University Valor at Nixa High School.

Benedictine is 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the Heart South while Evangel is 5-4 and 2-1 in the Heart South. The kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

The MatchUp: This year's meeting might mark the first for the Ravens against the "Valor", but it's the 38th overall meeting between the two schools. Benedictine leads the overall series with Evangel 22-15. The Ravens look to win their second straight against the Valor as Evangel won their previous meeting in Ozark, Mo., during the 2019 season, 35-21. Last year's win actually snapped a two-game skid for the Ravens in the matchup.

About Benedictine: Despite being limited offensively last week in their loss to Baker, Benedictine still ranks in the top half of the Heart in passing (4th, 2,314), passing yards per game (3rd, 433.3), and total offense (3rd, 3,900). They are currently ranked second overall in the Heart in scoring, averaging 40.6 points through nine games. ... With his effort last week, quarterback Garrett Kettle moved over the 2,000-yard passing mark with 2,012 yards. He has accounted for 19 touchdowns passing while adding 11 rushing touchdowns this season. He leads the team in rushing yards with 539 off 110 carries. ... Jalen James has taken a commanding lead for the Ravens in tackles with 73, which included 5.5 for a loss and 2 sacks. He currently ranks fourth overall in the Heart through 9 games. ... Gavin Spangler leads the Ravens in tackles for a loss with 8 and sacks with 3 and is second on the team behind James with 53 tackles.

About Evangel: The Valor are coming off a 37-29 win over MNU in Olathe last week. They have won two of their last three since dropping back-to-back games with Grand View and Peru State to close out September and start off October. ... Evangel is averaging just 29.4 points overall this season and has only dropped off to 29.3 in their three Heart South games. ... The Valor are averaging 338.9 yards per game through nine games, with 200.6 yards coming through the air and 139.3 on the ground. ... Dyllan Decker has thrown for 1,755 yards at quarterback for the Valor. He has completed 130 of 229 with 10 interceptions and 16 touchdowns. ... Bryce Nyumah leads the ground attack for the Valor with a 106.7 yards per game average on the ground. He has rushed for a total of 320 yards but has not appeared since week three. Sammy Robinson has rushed for 255 yards in four games but has not played since week four.
