DUBUQUE, Iowa – The (RV) Raven Men's Basketball team earned their third straight on Saturday with a 74-68 win over Clarke University.
The win over the Pride gave the Ravens their seventh in the series and gave Benedictine its first win against Clarke since the 2018-19 season.
Clarke held a brief lead to start the game before Benedictine took the lead on a basket from Matt Austin and 3-pointer from Jayden Temme.
Benedictine never gave back their lead and pushed their lead to as much as 10 points three times before halftime when they led 39-33.
The two teams would play a balanced second half as they each finished with 35 points. Despite their best efforts, the Pride could only pull within three points as Benedictine built their largest lead of 12 points off a 3-pointer from Jaiden Bristol with just over four minutes left in the game.
Clarke closed within three points for the second time in the half in the finals seconds but a pair of free throws from Temme and a third from Austin sealed the win for Benedictine.
The Ravens finished the game shooting 50 percent from the floor and 52.4 percent from beyond the 3-point arc en route to the win. Temme finished with a game-high 19 points while Austin added 15. Chris Jackson added 10 points while Bristol finished with 8 points and 5 assists. Nysir Scott and Tyson Cathy finished with 9 points each as the Ravens finished with an 18-9 advantage off the bench.
Benedictine returns home on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game against Graceland University.
