Softball splits Heart doubleheader with (RV) Grand View University

The Raven Softball team had their four-game winning streak snapped on Sunday by (RV) Grand View University on Ravens Field.

Benedictine got the final say on the day though taking game two 5-4 after falling 4-1 in the opener.

Two errors led to three unearned runs for the Vikings in the opener. After throwing the first four innings, Abbie Pressgrove was relieved by MacKenzie Pinkerton. Pinkerton held the Vikings hitless and scoreless over the final three innings of the game. Pressgrove suffered the loss, giving up one earned run off three hits with three strikeouts.

At the plate, Halley Rindom drove in the Ravens lone run, scored by Molly Chevalier.

In game two, Alex Gilham held the Vikings in check for five and one-third innings before she was relieved by Pinkerton. All four runs were credited to Gilham, who earned the win as she allowed nine hits with three strikeouts. Pinkerton finished off the final inning and two-thirds to earn the save as she once again held the Vikings hitless.

Benedictine used a three-run fourth inning to take the lead from Grand View before the Vikings rallied in the sixth.

The Ravens finished with six hits and Clare Hietz helped lead the rally with two RBI. Kaitlyn Fanning, Megan Medhus and Madison Zaccardo finished with one RBI each.
