PULASKI, Tenn. – For the second straight season, the Raven Women's Soccer run in the NAIA postseason was stopped by Grace (Ind.) College.
After beating Benedictine on Legacy Field in the 2019 NAIA Opening Round, the Lancers earned a 1-0 win over the Ravens on Thursday night in the 2020 NAIA Opening Round of the Pulaski Bracket hosted by Martin Methodist University.
After playing through the half in a scoreless draw, the scoring drought ended just 50 seconds into the second half when Grace's Madison Tuma scored to give the Lancers a 1-0 advantage.
Of Benedictine's five second-half shots, three were on goal which included a shot by Emma Strecker in the final seconds that was saved by Grace keeper Bethany Blackwood.
Natalie Duque led the Ravens offensive with three shots while Riley Degner, Madeline Stewart, and Rachel Beffa finished with two shots each. Both shots by Stewart and Beffa were on goal.
Ashley Rehagen earned the start in goal for the Ravens. She played the first half, recording four saves before Olivia Berry took over in the second half. Berry finished with two saves while allowing the game-winning goal.
Benedictine finishes their split season with an overall record of 11-6-2. They posted a 3-1-1 mark in their Spring season before going 1-1 in the Heart Postseason Tournament before dropping their match with Grace on Thursday.
