DUBUQUE, Iowa – Men's Soccer was edged in overtime on Saturday night as Clarke University broke a 4-4 tie converting a penalty kick during the 92nd minute of play to end the Ravens comeback effort.
Trailing 2-0 at the half, Benedictine gave up an early second-half goal before netting their first goal of the night during the 51st minute on a goal from Robert Mike Keon. Clarke answered to pull ahead 4-1 before the Ravens rattled off three straight to force overtime.
Girma Kassa and Adem Aroua connected on goals during the 58th and 70th minutes with Kassa scoring two straight goals. Keon scored the equalizer during the 87th minute off an assist from Guiherme Correia.
Clarke tallied the only shot in the golden goal period with the penalty kick resulting in contact inside the box away from the ball.
Kassa finished with 7 of the Ravens 15 shots on goal.
Nick Passinese recorded three saves in the loss as Clarke finished the game with a 22-15 advantage in shots on goal.
Benedictine remains on the road Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. game in Fayette, Mo., against Central Methodist University.
