Men's Soccer notched their first win of the season Saturday night at Legacy Field.
The Ravens topped the Bethel College Threshers 3-1.
Daniel Wee opened the scoring for the Ravens, slicing through the Threshers backline and beating the keeper with under 18 minutes to play before halftime.
The remainder of the half was scoreless by both teams as the Ravens took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
Possession was pretty even between the Ravens and Threshers. Bethel had 3 shots in the first 45 minutes and the Ravens were able to get 6 shots, with 3 shots on goal. There were plenty of whistles in the first half, as the Ravens were called for 11 fouls, and Bethel were whistled for 9 fouls.
Bethel evened the score early in the second half, with Juan Nicoletti slipping one by Carlos Flores to tie the score, 1-1.
The Ravens took the lead back with 27:36 to play. Girma Kassa slipped a pass to Dylan Posada, who nutmegged the Threshers keeper for the Ravens second goal of the match.
Darcy O'Connor extended the Ravens lead to 3-1 with 21:44 to play. Mason McGinnis sent a good throw-in towards the box, Girma Kassa flicked it and O'Connor knocked the deflection into the goal for the Ravens.
The defense did the rest for the Ravens, keeping the Threshers off the scoreboard the remainder of the contest.
The Ravens finished with 12 shots, 6 on goal, and committed 18 fouls. The Threshers had 6 shots, with 4 coming on goal, and were whistled for 15 fouls.
Carlos Flores played all 90 minutes in goal for the Ravens, making three saves.
The Ravens (1-2) will hit the road for a Wednesday, Sept. 8 match against Concordia (Neb.).
