Men's Basketball hosts Peru State College tonight looking for third straight win

Benedictine Men's Basketball goes for their third straight in Heart play as they play host to Peru State College tonight at 7:30 p.m. inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.

The Series: Benedictine holds a 14-5 advantage over Peru State in the series since the Bobcats joined the Heart – that is the same mark for the program under head coach Ryan Moody. The Ravens and the Bobcats are meeting for their only regular-season match-up as the conference schedule format continues with a single game against cross-division opponents. Last season, the schedule format was the same with Benedictine earning a 82-45 win over Peru State in Peru, Neb.

Tip-Off: Monday's win over No. 20 Central Methodist marked the second straight against a program either ranked or receiving votes when matched up against Benedictine. The Ravens are now 2-2 in those meetings. ... Matt Austin is closing in on the 1,000-point scoring milestone as a Raven. In 14 games this season, Austin has scored 211 points to move his Benedictine career total to 967 points. ... Headed into the first full slate of Heart games in 2022, all seven programs in the Heart South sit at .500 or better in conference play. The seven teams are jockeying for three automatic berths into the Heart Postseason Tournament as the eight-team field will match up the top three from each division and next best two programs. ... Jaiden Bristol currently has 606 career assists, reaching the 600 assist milestone since last playing inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. He is chasing Raven Hall of Famer Jason Wyrick who recorded 647 career assists for Benedictine. ... Benedictine's win over Central Methodist on Monday improved the Ravens record under head coach Ryan Moody in January openers to 6-4. They have won four straight January openers now wth wins in 6 of the last 8. ... Tonight's meeting features the top two individual 3-point shooters in the Heart in Benedictine's Nysir Scott and Peru State's Jibril Harris. Scott leads the Heart at 65.2 percent hitting 15 of 23. Harris is second at 53.2 percent hitting 33 of 62. ... The Ravens are one of five programs from the Heart with an undefeated record at home. Benedictine enters play tonight at 5-0 inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium this season. Conversely, while Peru State is also 6-0 at home, they enter play tonight 0-6 on the road.

Up Next: Benedictine hits to the road for the start of a three-game road swing as January continues. They are scheduled to travel to Lamoni, Iowa, to take on Graceland University at 4 p.m. Peru State returns home to host Evangel University.
