Men's Soccer dropped a home match to the Baker University Wildcats Wednesday night.
The Ravens lost 4-1 to the Wildcats.
After a scoreless first half, the Ravens were whistled for a handball in the box 3 minutes into the second half, giving the Wildcats a Penalty Kick opportunity. Baker made the most of it, converting the PK to take a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats extended their lead to 2-0 with 21:22 to play with a nice pass and one touch in the box, then added two more goals after the Ravens were forced to play down a man after a second yellow card was picked up.
The Ravens were able to find a goal late in the game when Justin Morales connected on a header off a cross by Daniel Wee to score with 6 minutes left to play.
It was a scoreless opening 45 minutes for the Ravens and Wildcats, but both teams had scoring opportunities.
For the Ravens, Diego Acuna nearly put the home side up 1-0 with 19 minutes left in the half but his shot deflected off the left post. The Wildcats immediately countered, but Ravens keeper Noah Reuscher saved the Baker shot attempt.
Reuscher was called upon moments later and the freshman stepped up to the challenge, shutting down a 1-on-1 opportunity for the Wildcats and help keep the match scoreless at half.
Despite the Ravens allowing 4 goals in the game, Reuscher was solid for the Ravens. He finished with 10 saves in goal, including three point-blank shots by the Wildcats after the Ravens were reduced to 10 players.
The Ravens (4-6-2, 2-3-1 Heart) will travel to Mount Mercy University for their next contest on Saturday, Oct. 8.
