Women's Soccer continued their winning ways Wednesday night, defeating the Baker University Wildcats 2-0 at home.
It's the fifth win in the past six matches for the Ravens.
Freshman Christine Znidarsic opened her Ravens scoring account just over 10 minutes into Wednesday's contest. Znidarsic first took a cross into the box from Nicole Patterson and headed it towards goal but it was off the cross bar. However, the deflection came right back to Znidarsic and she headed it into the net for her first career goal, putting the Ravens up 1-0.
Olivia Berry made sure Znidarsic's goal stood up in the first half, making 5 saves including one that required to lunge to her left. The Ravens carried their 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Ravens doubled their lead 5 minutes into the second half. Rachel Beffa sent a corner kick into the box, finding Annabelle Hoog for the header into the net. With 40 minutes to play, the Ravens held a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats pushed forward but Berry and the Ravens kept the visitors off the scoreboard to earn the shutout win. Berry finished with 6 saves for the Ravens.
With the win, the Ravens improve to 8-4 on the season and 5-1 in Heart of America play.
Next up is an Iowa road swing starting at Mount Marcy on Saturday, Oct. 8, then a trip to Graceland University before returning home to face Central Methodist University on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
