MCPHERSON – Men's Basketball opened up their four-game road swing on Friday afternoon against Bethel (Kan.) College at the McPherson College Classic.
The Threshers connected on 10 3-pointers en route to beating the Ravens 67-59.
Benedictine held Bethel to just 5 3-pointers in the first half off 26.3 percent shooting while converting 4 of their own off 36.4 percent. Bethel finished the first half shooting 45.2 percent from the floor while Benedictine connected on 37.9 percent as the Threshers held a 34-28 at the break.
The Ravens held the edge on field goals in the second half. Despite that advantage, they were only able to close within four points, 56-52, with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game on a 3-pointer from Ahmad Louis.
Benedictine won the rebounding battle, 40-35, and finished with an 8-point advantage in points in the paint.
Louis led the Ravens with 16 points as Braden Belt scored 14 with Preston Reynolds adding 11. Jayden Temme led the Ravens with 12 rebounds while Reynolds finished with his second double-double of the season, pulling in 10 rebounds.
The Ravens take on McPherson in their second game of the Classic at 6 p.m. Saturday.
