Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer eliminated from Heart Conference Tournament

Women's Soccer was eliminated from the Heart Conference Postseason Tournament in heart-breaking fashion Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens were defeated 2-2 (4-3 Penalty Kicks) by the Clarke University Pride in Atchison.

Down 1-0 at halftime after Clarke scored in the game's 6th minute, the Ravens wasted no time in leveling the score. Just 17 seconds into the second half, Sam Mausbach sent in a cross from the right side and Rachel Beffa put a boot on it to send it past the Clarke keeper to tie the score, 1-1.

With 18 minutes to play, Beffa struck again to give the home side the lead. This time she curled in a corner kick to put the Ravens up 2-1. However, the Pride answered 2 minutes later, with a goal by Samantha Rodriguez to square things up at 2-2.

The Ravens nearly had a winner with a little over a minute left to play, but Riley Degner's touch on a ball inside the 6-yard box slipped just over the cross bar. The teams entered extra time level at 2-2.

Neither team could find a winner in the two 10-minute extra time periods, sending the contest to the fateful PKs. Both teams converted their first try, but Pride keeper Faith Krapfl made the save on the Ravens second attempt and Clarke converted theirs to go up 2-1. Both teams converted in the third and fourth rounds, then Krapfl made another save in the final round, solidifying the Pride's 4-3 victory.

With the win, Clarke advances to the Heart Tournament Semifinals at Central Methodist University. The Ravens move to 12-6-1 on the season and will now wait to see if they are selected for an at-large bid for the NAIA National Tournament.
