(10) Men's Lacrosse sets program record in KCAC opener with Morningside

Just over 24 hours after dropping a four-point game to a fellow NAIA-ranked opponent, the Raven Men's Lacrosse team returned to Legacy Field to open up conference play.

After turning the ball over 16 times in their Saturday loss to No. 7 Indiana Tech, the No. 10-ranked Ravens took advantage of their possessions better against Morningside University on Sunday en route to.a 26-2 KCAC win. The 26-goal scoring effort broke the program's record for single-game goals, passing the previous record of 24 which they set last season against Morningside.

Benedictine won 27 of 30 faceoffs which led to better scoring opportunities. Joseph Bianchi and Liam Waldron split time taking the faceoffs for the Ravens with Bianchi winning 13 of 15 and Waldron winning 14 of 15. 

Offensively, the Ravens finished with 59 shots while eight players tallied a goal. Michael Hogan led the attack with 10 goals, setting a new individual single-game scoring record while adding 3 assists. Brady Guck scored 6 goals, followed by Nicolas Petree with 3 and Aiden Richardson with 3. Waldron, Curtis Wesley, Sean Molyneux, and James Withers scored one goal each to round out the scoring efforts.

Joseph Doyle recorded 8 assists while Withers joined Hogan with 3 assists. James Carson, Guck, Richardson, Bianchi, and Molyneux also added an assist.

Defensively, Duncan Loud picked up the win with one save playing just the first quarter. The Ravens recorded 11 caused turnovers, led by Connor Buckley with 4. Hogan and Guck were credited with 2 each.

The Ravens continued KCAC play on Wednesday with a trip down Highway 73 to take on the Univesity of St. Mary at 7 p.m.
