Returning to the field for the first time in a week, Raven Baseball earned a sweep over Dordt University on Laughlin Field at Olsen Stadium.
Benedictine snapped a four-game losing streak as they rallied behind solid starting pitching to beat the Defenders 5-4 and 7-2 on Monday.
In the opener, Nelson Klein moved to 3-1 on the season for the Ravens. He went four and two-thirds to earn the decision allowing two runs off four hits with four strikeouts. Matt Piontek finished out the game, recording the final seven outs to earn the save throwing two and one-third.
After falling behind 1-0, the Ravens rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI double from Jacob Pavlyak. Danny Favazza singled in the go-ahead run for the Ravens in the bottom of the fourth to ignite a rally for Benedictine. Pavlyak added a second RBI on a single as the Ravens finished the inning scoring four runs off four hits.
While the Defenders answered with three runs in the top of the fifth, that was all they would get as Piontek entered to shut the door finishing his outing with three strikeouts.
In game two, Andrew Baier set the tone for the Ravens on the hill. He went five and one-third, giving up just two runs over his outing off two hits with five strikeouts. Both runs scored after Baier was relieved. Ian O'Malley and Jacob Slaten threw two-thirds of an inning each to finish out the game allowing just one more hit between the two of them.
At the plate, the Ravens scored three in the first and then added three more in the fifth and their final run in the sixth. Pavlyak finished with two more hits, one of which was a home run, and two RBI. Slaten and Hunter Moffet finished with two RBI each.
The Ravens remain at home on Saturday and Sunday as they host Waldorf University in a pair of Noon doubleheaders.
