Raven Softball walked off the Evangel University Valor on Tuesday to earn a Heart South split for the second straight doubleheader.
With Kassidy James on third, Megan Medhus laced a pitch over the head of the Valor center fielder to give Benedictine a game-two win, 7-6, in 10 innings.
Evangel's Abby Jo Emmit kept the Ravens bats quite in throughout game one. She gave up just two hits over 7 innings as she earned a 4-0 win. Jenna Drish suffered the loss for the Ravens, throwing the first inning and two-thirds.
Madison Zaccardo and Kaitlyn Fanning recorded the Ravens two hits as Benedictine stranded 7 on base.
In game two, the Valor jumped out to a 4-0 advantage in the first inning, chasing the Ravens game two starter Clare Heitz after 4 batters. Kera Willoughby entered in relief and threw five innings before MacKenzie Pinkerton threw the final 5 innings to earn the win. Pinkerton finished game two with 5 strikeouts while limiting Evangel to just 1 hit. For the day, she threw a total of 10 and one-third innings, allowing a total of one earned run off two hits with 9 strikeouts.
The Ravens rallied for a three-run sixth inning. Zaccardo drove in two of the three runs with James scoring the third on a wild pitch. The two teams went scoreless over the eighth and ninth innings to set up the walk-off from Mehus.
Medhus finished the game going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Natalie Sheffield added a 3 for 5 game while James finished with 2 hits. Ally Pickering went 2 for 3 with a double to record the Ravens one extra-base hit of the game.
The Ravens remain at home on Sunday as the host Heart North opponent Culver-Stockton College back on Ravens Field.
