Baker University was able to take their series with Raven Baseball on Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubleheaders sweeps.
The Wildcats took the Saturday series 7-4 and 7-6 and then finished off the sweep with wins by 13-9 and 8-4.
It was the big inning that did the Ravens in over the course of the series. Baker scored 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning in game two on Saturday which proved to be the difference in the game. In game three on Sunday, the Wildcats used a 6-run fifth to take the lead and then distanced themselves from the Ravens with a 5-run seventh.
On the hill, the Ravens went with Andrew Baier, Nelson Klein, Ian O'Malley, and Luke Schmedding. Three of the four starters pitched at least four-innings in their starts with Baier going 4 and two-thirds, Klein going 4 and one-third and O'Malley going 4 innings. Baier and Schmedding were the only starters to earn a decision. Baier gave up four runs over his time on the hill to suffer the game-one loss. Schmedding threw 2 and two-thirds in the series finale to suffer the loss.
Dominic Susanka was a highlight out of the bullpen for the Ravens. He made a 3 inning appearance in the finale, limiting Baker to one hit with two strikeouts.
At the plate, the Ravens finished the series with a team batting average of .270 while the Wildcats finished at .282. Danny Favazza and Jack Harpole led the Ravens with 6 hits each. Both players hit .400 on the weekend with Favazza hitting 3 home runs and a double while Harpole added a double and a triple. Favazza finished the weekend with 5 RBI while Harpole and Hunter Moffet added 3 each. Ian O'Malley, Skyler Specht, and Jacob Pavlyak added 2 RBI each. O'Malley finished with a triple and Ashton Neuman added a double to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.
The Ravens will travel to Clarke University for their final four-game Heart cross-divisional series on Thursday and Saturday.
