PARKVILLE, Mo. – Delayed a day by weather, and delayed by weather during the doubleheader, Raven Softball eventually earned a sweep over Park University on Thursday afternoon.
Benedictine took game one, 3-2, and then opened up the offense in game two, winning 11-4.
MacKenzie Pinkerton went 6 innings in game one to earn the win. She gave up 2 earned runs off 4 hits with 4 strikeouts before Jenna Drish finished off the game to preserve the win for Pinkerton.
At the plate, Chloe Strickland hit a triple while Madison Zaccardo and Halley Rindom finished with a double each. Zaccardo, Strickland and Isabella Ingui each recorded an RBI.
In game two, Drish earned the win in relief. She threw the final 3 and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts while shutting out the Pirates. Kera Willoughby earned the start and threw the first 2 and one-third before she was relieved by Pinkerton who gave up one hit over an inning of work.
Tied at 4-4 through three innings, the Ravens scored 7 unanswered to secure the sweep. They scored their 11 runs off 13 hits. Megan Medhus and Zaccardo both connected on home runs while Zaccardo, Ingui and Kassidy James all finished with a double. James' double ignited a fourth-inning rally that saw the Ravens finish the inning with 5 runs. Medhus and Zaccardo finished with 3 RBI each while James, Ingui, and Strickland added an RBI each.
The Ravens remain on the road Friday, traveling to Springfield, Mo., to take on Evangel University. Friday's doubleheader will take place at Thompson Field in Meador Park, nearby Battlefield Mall. Game times have been shifted to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
