Raven Softball split their home doubleheader with MNU on Wednesday.
After moving up the games that were originally scheduled for Friday, three time changes later, MNU earned a 3-0 win in game one before Benedictine took game two, 11-5.
Benedictine was held to just 3 hits against MNU's Alexis Wilds. Wilds earned the complete-game win, finishing with 8 strikeouts while holding the Ravens scoreless. Kera Willoughby suffered the loss for the Ravens inside the circle. She also threw a complete game, giving up 2 earned runs off 10 hits with 3 strikeouts.
Megan Medhus, Madison Zaccardo, and Chloe Strickland recorded Benedictine's hits in the loss.
In game two, Jenna Drish earned the start inside the circle for the Ravens. She threw the first 5 innings, allowing just 1 earned run off 6 hits with 2 strikeouts to earn the win. MacKenzie Pinkerton finished off the final 2 innings of the game in relief.
After being held to just 3 hits in the opener, the Ravens finished game two with 9 hits. Zaccardo and Isabella Ingui both recorded a triple in the win. Zaccardo's triple gave her 3 RBI during the Ravens 4-run sixth that helped cement the win. Medhus went 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored, Stickland went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI while Ingui added 2 RBI.
Benedictine closes out the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader back on Ravens Field against Park University. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Ravens hold a 2-game lead over Missouri Valley College and a 3-game lead over Baker University for the final spot out the Heart South into the 2022 Heart Softball Championship Series.
