Game Recap: Baseball |

Park takes three straight over Baseball to earn Heart South series win

PARKVILLE, Mo. – Raven Baseball opened their Heart South series on Saturday with a 2-1 win over Park University before the Pirates earned the series win taking the final three games of the series over the Ravens.

Andrew Baier threw a complete game for the Ravens in game one. He gave up an earned run of 5 hits with 7 strikeouts over 7 innings of work.

Jack Harpole singled in Hunter Moffet in the Ravens part of the sixth inning in what proved to be the game-winning run after Park tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth. Moffet went 2 for 3 and was the lone Raven with two hits in the win.

After suffering a no-hit 1-0 loss in game two of the series on Saturday, the Ravens looked to bounce back with their doubleheader on Sunday. While the Ravens did finish Sunday with 15 hits, they just couldn't break through late against Park suffering a pair of losses, 7-3 and 5-3.

Ashton Neuman recorded a 2-run home run in the second inning of Sunday's opener, but that was the last run the Ravens would score. Drew Piontek went 2 for 2 in the loss with a pair of doubles and a run scored.

In the series finale, a double from Ian O'Malley scored two runs in the first inning before Nathan Huber drove in the Ravens third run on a bunt single in the fourth. Moffet, O'Malley and Huber finished the game with 2 hits each as the Ravens dropped their second straight Heart South series.

Benedictine returns home for a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday, hosting Baker University starting at Noon on both days. On Saturday, make plans to join the Ravens early as we celebrate 100 years of Benedictine Baseball starting with pregame ceremonies at 11 a.m.
