Men's Soccer picked up a big win to close out the regular season Saturday evening.
The (RV) Ravens took down the No. 13 Missouri Valley College Vikings, 1-0, with a late goal.
The teams were scoreless through most of the game until the Ravens finally broke through with just under 6 minutes to play. After a ball was played into the box, Kody Argaez one-touched a pass to Nima Samadian who slotted his shot into the lower left corner to put the Ravens up 1-0.
From that point, the Ravens continued to do defensively what they were able to do all night, which was to keep the Vikings from playing with the ball in space. The Ravens closed out the win, knocking off the team who won the Heart of America regular season championship.
The Ravens nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute when Adem Aroua scored in the box, but he was ruled offside and the goal was wiped away.
The Vikings first chance came with 18 minutes to play before half. MVC passed forward and dribbled into the box, but Ravens keeper Noah Reuscher came forward to scoop up the ball, thwarting the opportunity.
Neither team was able to find a goal the remainder of the half, heading into the locker rooms level at 0-0, leading to the late dramatics by Samadian and the Ravens.
The Ravens held the Vikings to 5 shots, with Reuscher saving all three shots MVC put on goal.
