Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 4-ranked CMU earns 5-1 win over Women's Soccer in Heart Championship Semifinals

FAYETTE, Mo. – No. 4-ranked and top-seeded Central Methodist University scored 5 unanswered goals on Wednesday night against Women's Soccer en route to a 5-1 win in the Heart Championship Semifinals.

No. 24 Benedictine struck first and held a 1-0 lead at the half, before the NAIA-ranked Eagles came alive in the second half to end the Ravens run in the championship after two matches.

Benedictine's score came off a corner kick during the 14th minute. Rachel Beffa took the corner and was able to connect with Faith Lewis to put the Ravens in the lead.

The Ravens remained in the lead until the Eagles scored two goals during the 52nd minute to take the lead. They added goals during the 70th, 79th, and 81st minute to close out the Ravens and advance to the Championship match.

Benedictine held a 10-2 advantage in shots in the first half while Central Methodist held an 11-2 advantage in the second half.

Mackenzie Korzenecki recorded 3 saves in the loss, playing all 90 minutes in goal.

Benedictine now waits for the NAIA Women's Soccer Selection Show at Noon on Monday to learn if their 12-4-4 overall record will be enough to get them an at-large berth into the 40-team championship field.
