Men's Basketball ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Baker University Wildcats at home on Tuesday night.
The Ravens lost the Wildcats 92-57 as the visitors put together a strong first half.
A Baker run to begin the game and to close out the first half put the Ravens in a tough situation. The Wildcats raced out to a quick 10-3 lead to force an early Ravens timeout. The Ravens battled back and cut the Baker lead to 21-15 halfway through the opening period, but in the final 7 minutes of the half the Wildcats turned up the heat.
The Wildcats went on a 19-2 run over the final 6:48 of the opening half, with the only Ravens points in that time frame coming from Preston Reynolds with 4 seconds left in the half. Baker even banked in a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end the half up 49-21.
Facing the large deficit, the Ravens were unable to threaten in the second half, though they did play better. The Wildcats outscored the Ravens 43-36 in the second half. The visitors shot a blistering 60.7% from the field while the Ravens shot 32.3%.
Leading the scoring for the Ravens was Ahmad Louis with 9 points, while Haggan Hilgendorf added 8 and Braden Belt scored 7 points. Reynolds had 6 points and 5 rebounds, and Louis chipped in 4 boards.
The Ravens (3-9, 2-7 Heart) now have a chance to reset as they enter Christmas break. Next up will be a 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 home contest against Park University.
