Men's Basketball battled to a physical win at home Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens dropped the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats 68-57, putting together one of their most complete games of the season.
Defense was the name of the game in the first 20 minutes. The Ravens took a 29-25 lead into halftime thanks to forced turnovers. The Wildcats entered Saturday averaging just 8.9 turnovers per game, but the Ravens forced 6 C-SC turnovers in the first half, directly leading to 11 points.
The Ravens defense continued to cause problems for the Wildcats in the second half, forcing 8 more turnovers to make it 14 in the game for the visitors.
While the defense caused problems for the Wildcats, the Ravens offense fought to get good looks at the bucket and never relinquished the lead. A Brycen LaRue basket pushed the Ravens lead to double-digits with just over 10 minutes to play in the game. They held that double-figure lead the remainder of the contest, pushing it to as many as 16 points at different times in the half.
Preston Reynolds led the Ravens with 16 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Haggan Hilgendorf scored 12 points and had 8 boards, and Braden Belt added 11 points. The Ravens turned the 14 Wildcats turnovers into 20 points, and outrebounded C-SC 36-34.
As a team, the Ravens shot 46% from the field and 35% from 3-point range. They held the Wildcats to 39% shooting.
Next up for the Ravens (3-5, 2-3 Heart) will be a road contest at Grand View University on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
