CANTON, Mo. – Men's Basketball wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with an 11-point win over Culver-Stockton College snapping a seven-game losing streak and grab some needed momentum headed into the Heart Postseason Tournament next week.
Benedictine used 10 3-pointers and a 12-point advantage in the paint as they earned a 60-49 win over the Wildcats to snap their losing streak and sweep the season series.
The Ravens opened the game with three straight 3-pointers from Sam Ungashick, Ahmad Louis, and Braden Belt to erase an early deficit at the hands of the Wildcats.
After playing through five more ties, a 3-pointer from Jayden Temme followed by a pair of free throws from Louis allowed Benedictine to take a 32-29 lead into the break.
The Ravens led the entire second half. Culver-Stockton pulled even with the Ravens 6 minutes into the half before a by Joel Adese gave the lead back to Benedictine. The Ravens used an 11-0 run that was sparked by a 3-pointer from Jake Thompson and two more from Belt and Anthony Hall to put the Wildcats away and seal the win.
Belt finished with 13 points to lead the Ravens in scoring while Temme added 10. The Ravens finished with a 44-32 advantage on the board while outscoring the Wildcats 18-6 in the paint,
Benedictine finishes the Heart season at 10-12 and has earned the No. 8 seed in the Heart Postseason Tournament where they will match up with Heart Championship and No. 7-ranked William Penn University at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Quarterfinal Round in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
