Softball wrapped up their weekend homestand with a sweep over Concordia (Neb.) University on Sunday on Ravens Field.
Benedictine used a 9-run sixth inning to break up game 1 for an 11-3 win and they broke a 5-5 tie with a 2-run sixth inning for a 7-5 win in game 2.
In the opener, Concordia held a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Rilee Bell connected on a 2-run home run that also scored Ally Pickering.
After Concordia answered with a run in the top of the sixth, Benedictine answered that with a 9-run inning to end the game after six innings. Pickering got the rally started with a sac fly. Madison Zaccardo doubled in Kassidy James and Bella Ingui. Clare Heitz cleared the bases with a 3-run triple and then James singled in Dez Duncan to end the game.
Lacey Foster earned the win in relief of Heitz. Foster threw the final four innings, giving up an earned run off 4 hits with 3 strikeouts.
In the nightcap, the Ravens held a 5-0 lead through 3 innings before the Bulldogs scored 5 unanswered.
Megan Medhus singled through the right side to score James and Ingui to retake the lead.
Foster threw the final two innings in relief of Kera Willoughby. She held Bulldogs scoreless in the seventh to earn the win.
Medhus, Bell, and Heitz all doubled in game two with Medhus and Heitz recording two RBI each.
The Ravens return to the road on Friday and Saturday in Oklahoma City as they participate in the Hosea Bell Red Dirt Classic hosted by Langston University.
