Baseball earned a Sunday split against Mount Marty University to wrap up their final non-conference weekend series.
The Ravens took game three of the series, winning game one on Sunday 4-3 before the Lancers closed out the series with a 6-4 win to take the series 3-1.
Saturday, the Ravens rallied but fell short in both games. In the series opener, the Lancers won 13-10 before taking game 2, 5-2.
Mount Marty 13, Benedictine 10
Hunter Moffet connected on the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the first to give Benedictine a 1-0 lead. Mount Marty answered with a 7-run second inning.
Jackson Sarver earned the start on the hill. He went 4 and two-thirds, giving up 3 earned runs off 9 hits.
The Ravens pulled within four runs after a 2-run fifth before the Lancers answered with 4 runs in the sixth.
After drawing three straight walks by Chase Pearson, Moffet, and Brylan Haas, Danny Favazza hit a grand slam to make it 13-9. Tyler Marchand doubled in Ashton Neuman before the Lancers were able to get out of the inning and hang on for the win.
Moffet and Neuman each recorded two hits at the plate with Neuman adding a double and two RBI.
Mount Marty 5, Benedictine 2
Mount Marty scored 5 runs in the top of the first as Ben Bowman gave up three earned runs off 6 hits over 5 innings in the loss.
Ben DeLaForest and Lance Bolles finished out the game in relief, holding the Lancers hitless.
Favazza recorded the Ravens only extra-base hit for the game, a double, while Moffet and Jack Harpole each recorded two hits. Harpole singled in the Ravens first run of the game in the sixth before the second scored on an error.
Benedictine 4, Mount Marty 3
Matthew Gephardt threw four and two-thirds to put Benedictine in position to earn their first win of the series in the opener on Sunday.
Gephardt gave up three runs off 8 hits before Ethan Arnold and Bolles finished out the game Bolles threw the final inning and two-thirds with two strikeouts to earn the save.
Favazza finished the game with a home run and 3 RBI at the plate with Neuman and Theo Kummer accounting for the two remaining Raven hits.
Mount Marty 6, Benedictine 4
Nelson Klein earned the start in the final game of the series. He threw the first four and one-third innings, giving up four runs off five hits with four strikeouts in the loss.
DeLaForest, Dominic Susanka, and Zach Wilcox finished off the game in relief, limiting the Lancers to two more runs off two hits.
Neuman doubled in the second inning to score the Ravens first two runs of the game and Jaden Zimmerman homered in the seventh inning to pull Benedictine within two runs.
Benedictine is scheduled to host their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against the University of St. Mary before opening up Heart play with a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday with Grand View University.
