DAVENPORT, Iowa – A day after Mother Nature forced a schedule change, (8) Women's Lacrosse beat (RV) St. Ambrose University 22-6.
The match-up was originally scheduled for Friday night but was moved to Saturday afternoon due to the forecast for severe weather in the region. Benedictine held a 41-18 advantage in shots en route to their second Heart win of the season.
After the Fighting Bees scored the first goal of the game, Kaylen Moore and Chantera Allen gave the Ravens a 2-1 lead. St. Ambrose answered to tie the game at 2-2 before Benedictine answered with goals from Moore, Christen Michaelides, and a pair of goals from Courtney Frankfurth.
By the half, the Ravens lead grew to 12-5. In the third quarter, Moore and Allen combined for the first five goals of the second half to push the Ravens advantage behind 10 goals and start the running clock.
Benedictine held St. Ambrose scoreless over the final 15 minutes of the game as they earned the 16-goal win.
Allen led the Ravens with 7 goals, followed by Moore with 6. Frankfurth finished with 4 goals and a game-high 5 assists. Claudia Garcia, Margaux Gelbach, Grace Simonson, and Kiera Russell joined Michaelides with a goal each.
Ginnna Stellettis earned the win in goal. She played the first half, recording 5 saves before Molly Owen played the second half, finishing with 3 saves.
Moore led the Ravens with 11 draw controls while Gelbach added 7.
Benedictine remains on the road, traveling to Dubuque, Iowa, to take on the Clarke University Pride.
