Baseball picked up a Heart South series win on Monday with a sweep over Park University.
After dropping the series opener to the Pirates 11-3 on Sunday, the Ravens won the final three games of the series 7-6, 8-4, and 6-4 to take the series.
The Ravens finished the series with 33 hits, 13 of which were for extra bases, as they finished with 6 doubles, a triple, and 6 home runs.
Game 1: Park 11, Benedictine 3
Ben Bowman and Matthew Gephardt combined on the hill for the Ravens in the loss. They gave up a total of 6 earned runs as Benedictine committed 2 errors defensive behind the duo.
Hunter Moffet and Danny Favazza hit home runs, with Moffet finishing with 2 RBI. Jack Harpole rounded out the offensive effort, finishing 2 for 3 at the plate.
Game 2: Benedictine 7, Park 6 - 8 innings.
After rallying to score 3 runs in the third inning to force extra innings, Theo Kummer hit a walk-off single to score Moffet to give the Ravens the win and split the Sunday doubleheader.
Jackson Sarver earned the win in relief for the Ravens. He threw the final 2 innings, giving up just two hits while holding the Pirates scoreless while striking out 4.
Kummer anchored the Ravens at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles. Zac Demos and Brylan Haas also recorded doubles at the plate. Harpole, Haas, and Jack Minnis were all credited with an RBI each while Chase Pearson went 2 for 2 to round out the Ravens offensive efforts.
Game 3: Benedictine 8, Park 4
A 3-run home run off the bat of Kummer in the bottom of the fifth inning capped off a 5-run inning for the Ravens that helped them break open the game.
Ben DeLaForest earned the win in relief for the Ravens. He took over for Nelson Klein who pitched the first three and a third. DeLaForest went an inning and two-thirds, holding the Pirates scoreless off 2 hits before Sarver recorded the final 6 outs of the game to earn a save.
The Ravens scored their 8 runs off 9 hits. While the Ravens finished the game with five extra-base hits, three of those came off Moffet's bat as he hit for the cycle. He went 4 for 4 with a double, single, triple, and home run as he scored three times and added 3 RBI. Demos connected on a solo home run that started the Ravens fifth inning rally as he finished 2 for 3.
Game 4: Benedictine 6, Park 4
Ashton Neuman put the Ravens ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the first with a 3-run home run.
Ethan Arnold earned the start and went 4 innings, giving up a run off 3 hits. After giving up 3 runs in the fifth inning, DeLaForest returned to the mound to close out the game, throwing the final 3 innings to earn the save.
Neuman went 2 for 3 at the plate adding a double for his second hit. Pearson went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI to round out the Ravens efforts at the plate.
Benedictine hits the road on Saturday and Sunday with a four-game Heart South series in Marshall, Mo., with Missouri Valley College.
