Ravens Softball split a home doubleheader against the Evangel University Valor on Thursday.
The Ravens won the first game in Atchison, 2-0, before the Valor took home a 4-1 win in the second game.
Game 1
Kera Willoughby turned in a strong pitching performance to lead the Ravens in the Game 1 win. The sophomore went 6.1 innings and gave up 0 runs and just 2 hits to record her 11th win of the season. She held Evangel hitless for the first 5.2 innings of the contest. Lacey Foster entered the circle for the final two outs to earn her fourth save of the season.
Madison Zaccardo provided the fire power for the Ravens offense. She doubled in Megan Medhus to put the Ravens on the board in the first inning, then launched a solo homer in the fourth to account for both runs in the game.
Zaccardo later singled, but didn't have a chance for a fourth plate appearance and a shot at the cycle.
Game 2
Evangel was able to nab the lead in the third inning of the second game, plating a pair of runs. The Ravens answered in bottom of the frame when Natalie Sheffield doubled and scored on an RBI single by Ally Pickering.
However, the Valor scored 2 more runs in the fifth inning and held on for the 4-1 win.
Bailey Selvage went the distance for the Ravens, notching 4 strikeouts and giving up 6 hits.
Zaccardo and Abby Pressgrove were the only other Ravens batters to record a hit in the second game.
The Ravens move to 25-22 overall and 15-9 in Heart of America Conference play. They'll close out the regular season with a doubleheader Saturday, April 29 at Central Methodist University.
