A tough stretch of contests began with a draw for Ravens Women's Soccer.
The Ravens tied the 22-ranked Olivet Nazarene University Tigers, 1-1, on Legacy Field Saturday night.
The Ravens nabbed a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute thanks to a Riley Degner goal. The scoring sequence started in the back with Mackenzie Korzenecki sending a pass forward. Eventually Christine Znidarsic passed to Degner who was able to send a bender over the Tigers keeper for the opening goal.
Korzenecki also made 4 saves in goal in the first half and the Ravens rode Degner's goal to a 1-0 halftime lead.
Olivet Nazarene found an equalizer with just under 20 minutes to play. A nice cross sent into the box was headed past Korzenecki to make it 1-1.
The Ravens nearly found an answer 2 minutes later when Degner sent a cross into the back post that narrowly missed connecting with Sam Mausbach.
The rest of the time dripped away with neither team finding a winning score. The Ravens backline did a solid job of making sure a draw was the worst result possible was a draw.
The Tigers outshot the Ravens 12-8 and 8-5 with shots on goal. Korzenecki made 7 total saves for the Ravens. Saturday's physical contest resulted in 13 fouls on both teams.
Next up for the Ravens will be a 6 p.m. home contest against Southwestern on Monday, Aug. 28. That's followed up with home games against Doane on Aug. 30 and Columbia on Sept. 2.
