(4) Morningside scored last-second touchdown to avoid upset bid from (7) Raven Football

A last-minute touchdown pushed No. 4 Morningside University past No. 7 Benedictine Football on Saturday as the Mustangs beat the Ravens 20-17 on O'Malley Field. 

Benedictine recovered 3 fumbles, while forcing 4 total, and had 2 interceptions on the day. The Ravens were able to capitalize on three of those turnovers with a field goal and a pair of touchdowns but had to punt inside the final 6 minutes of the game, which the Mustangs turned into the game-winning drive.

The Mustangs struck first, scoring on a 49-yard pass to take a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. The Ravens scored 10 unanswered in the second quarter on a 22-yard field from Harry Balke and a 4-yard reception by Reed Levi from Jackson Dooley that gave the Ravens the lead at the half.

Morningside scored the only points of the third quarter on an 8-yard run which gave them back the lead, but the PAT was missed leaving the lead at 13-10 Mustangs. 

Dooley connected on an 18-yard pass to JaShawn Todd midway through the fourth quarter to give the Ravens back the lead, 17-13. The touchdown came after Benedictine's Isaac Anderson sacked Morningside's Cash Parker to force a fumble that was recovered by Kevin Harris.

Jagger Blubaugh led the Ravens defense with 13 tackles and an interception. Carson Anderson added 8 tackles while Javhi Blomquist added 8 with a fumble recovery. The Ravens finished with a total of 8 tackles for a loss of 32 yards with 5 sacks. Carson Anderson, Isaac Anderson, Kevin Harris, Eric Chavez, and Health Baker. Jackson Hoskins added an interception to go with Blubaugh's.

Offensively, the Ravens with 222 total yards – 166 yards through the air and 56 yards on the ground. Dooley finished with 159 yards on 13 of 36 passing with a late interception and 2 touchdowns. Dalton Witherspoon added 50 yards on 22 rushes and Todd finished with 53 yards on 4 receptions.
