GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Benedictine Women's Soccer fell in the first round of the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship after Concordia (Neb.) University scored two goals in the final 8 minutes of the match to advance with a 2-0 win over the Ravens.
The two teams played a scoreless draw until the 82nd minute when Concordia scored its first goal. They added the second goal on a counter after the Ravens took a corner inside the final two minutes of the match to seal the win.
Payton Vogelbacher finished the game with 3 shots, all on goal, as the Ravens finished with five shots on goal. Hannah Phillips and Lizzy Gresch added the Ravens remaining two shots on goal.
Gresch's shot on goal came seconds after the go-ahead goal from the Bulldogs but was saved by Concordia keeper Angela Banks. That proved to be Benedictine's last look at goal as the corner from Christine Zndarsic during the 89th minute did not yield an attempt at Banks.
Mackenzie Korzenecki finished with 5 saves over 90 minutes in goal as the Ravens finished their season at 13-7-1 overall with their second straight trip to the NAIA playoffs.
