Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball runs past Graceland in second half

Women's Basketball turned it on in the second half in Tuesday's home win.

The (RV) Ravens defeated the Graceland University Yellowjackets, 86-70, to remain unbeaten on the season.

A strong Graceland second quarter sent the teams into the locker room with the Ravens ahead by just 4 points. However, the Ravens turned things back in their favor in the third quarter. They used a 16-0 run to take control of the game and found the touch from outside, making 3-of-4 from 3-point range. A 4-point halftime lead became a 22-point lead after three quarters of play and the Ravens coasted to the 16-point win.

Nicole Storck scored a career-high 18 points to lead the way for the Ravens. Kennedy Nicholson had 16 points and 4 steals, Jennifer Jacobs added 12 points and 4 rebounds, Josie Weishaar scored 10 to go along with 6 boards and 5 assists, and Lauryn Dubbert had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

After the Ravens led by 13 points early in the second quarter, the Yellowjackets responded with a 20-7 run to tie the game, 31-31. The Ravens answered with their own run, but a Graceland 3-pointer cut the Ravens lead to 38-34 at halftime.

Graceland entered the contest averaging just 26% from 3-point range but shot 43.8% from deep in the first half, knocking down six triples. The Ravens couldn't find their outside shooting touch, though, making just 3-17 from deep in the first half. Instead, the Ravens got it done with 24 points in the paint, led by 10 points from Jacobs.

The Ravens finished the game with 44 points in the paint and limited the Yellowjackets to 16 inside. Graceland knocked down four more 3-pointers in the second half but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Ravens.

Next up for the Ravens (6-0, 4-0 Heart) will be a pair of road games starting with a trip to Park University at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.
