Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball pushes win streak to three games

Men's Basketball pushed its winning streak to three games Wednesday night.

The Ravens defeated the Missouri Valley College Vikings, 82-47, at home.

It was the Vikings who started the game hot, taking a 10-2 lead in the early minutes. However, the Ravens completely flipped the script with a 26-2 run to take a 28-12 lead and went on to lead by 18 at the break.

Brycen LaRue scored 10 points to pace the Ravens in the opening half. As a team, the Ravens shot 55.6% from the field in the opening half and limited the Vikings to 32.1% shooting. Both teams took 11 shots from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes, but the Ravens knocked down 5 of those shots while the Vikings managed to hit just 1 from deep.

The Ravens domination continued in the second half as they pushed their lead to as many as 38 points. The biggest difference in the contest boiled down to the Ravens ability to make shots while also making things difficult for the Vikings. The Ravens finished the game shooting 56% and the defense smothered MVC into shooting just 35%. The Ravens were equally advantageous behind the 3-point line, knocking down 9-of-21 from deep while the Vikings were only 3-23.

LaRue's 20 led the way for the Ravens. He was joined in double-figures by Preston Reynolds and Haggan Hilgendorf, who both scored 12 points, and Deaglan Sullivan's 10 points. Reynolds added 8 rebounds, Hilgendorf grabbed 6 boards, Sullivan had 5 assists, and Ezrah Vaigafa had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. As a team the Ravens outrebounded the Vikings 39-28.

The Ravens (5-6, 4-3 Heart) look to keep their winning streak going with a 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 home contest against the Mount Mercy University Mustangs.
