(RV) Men's Lacrosse caps comeback win over Columbia (Mo.) with 5-goal fourth quarter

COLUMBIA, Mo. – (RV) Men's Lacrosse snapped its 3-game losing streak on Wednesday night, earning a comeback win on the road over the Columbia College Cougars.

Benedictine outscored Columbia 5-1 in the fourth quarter to seal their comeback and earn a 13-12 win.

Liam Waldron scored the first goal of the game before the Cougars rattled off 5 unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter. Goals from Joseph Bianchi and Joey Calabria pulled the Ravens back within 2 goals before the Cougars rattled off four unanswered to pull back ahead of the Ravens by 6 before taking a 9-5 lead into halftime.

Benedictine held a 3-2 advantage in scoring in the third quarter to add to their 4-goal advantage in the fourth quarter allowing them to battle back from their 4-goal halftime deficit. 

Bianchi and Mason Eberle led the Ravens in scoring with 4 goals. Eberle scored all his goals in the second half while Bianchi's final 2 goals allowed the Ravens to tie the game up at 11-11 with 12 minutes remaining in the game. Calabria finished with 2 goals while Charlie Louree and Max Thomason joined Waldron with 1 goal each. Louree's goal came with 10 minutes remaining and proved to be the game-winner as Eberle's final goal came with just over 6 minutes remaining to help seal the win.

Brayden Hope led the Ravens with 2 assists while Calabria was joined by Bianchi, Mac Postel Jr., and Zachary Torres with 1 assist each.

John Paul Evans and CJ Besuzzi split time in goal with Besuzzi earning the win, playing the final 45 minutes for the Ravens. Evans finished with 2 saves while Besuzzi added 5. Thomason went 15 of 25 on face-offs while Bianchi went 2 for 2.

The Ravens return to Legacy Field at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, as they host Ottawa University before returning to the road to open up Heart play at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on March 23.
