Benedictine Baseball dropped its second series of its Heart schedule over the weekend to Park University.
After dropping the series opener 14-5, the Ravens played three tightly-contested games falling in game 2, 4-1, game 3, 2-1, and game 4, 4-0.
Game 1: Park 14, Benedictine 5
The Pirates broke the game open with a 6-run fifth inning and then a 4-run seventh.
Ben DeLaForest suffered the loss, giving up 5 runs off 8 hits with 2 strikeouts over four and one-third.
At the plate, the Ravens finished with 12 hits that included 6 doubles and a triple. Ashton Neuman went 3 for 4 with a double, Dominic Ferrari went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, Brice Martin went 2 for 4 with a double while Jack Minnis and Brylan Haas added a double each. Jack Harpole added a triple with 2 RBI while Hunter Moffett, Martin, and Haas added an RBI each.
Game 2: Park 4, Benedictine 1
The Ravens allowed 2 earned runs over seven innings in the loss.
Lance Bolles suffered the loss, throwing six innings, giving up 2 earned runs off 7 hits with 5 strikeouts before Jackson Sarver finished off the game, giving up a run off a hit.
Harpole went 2 for 4 at the plate while Neuman and Martin added the two remaining hits as the Ravens were held to 4 hits.
Game 3: Park 2, Benedictine 1
The Pirates scored 2 unearned runs to take the first game on Sunday from the Ravens.
Sarver suffered the loss, throwing 4 innings, giving up 2 runs off 3 hits with 5 strikeouts. Ethan Arnold threw an inning and one-third while Matthew Gephart finished off the final inning and two-thirds with 2 strikeouts.
Neuman went 1 for 3 with a double while Harpole added an RBI as the Ravens were limited to 3 hits at the plate.
Game 4: Park 4, Benedictine 0
Nicholas Mozingo earned his first career start for the Ravens in the series finale. He threw the first 3 innings, giving up 1 run off 5 hits with 2 strikeouts in the loss.
Evan DeMint followed Mozingo and threw three innings, limiting the Pirates to just 1 hit with 3 strikeouts before Ben Bowman threw the final inning where the Pirates scored 3 unearned runs off 1 hit.
Benedictine was limited to 1 hit in the series finale as Pirate pitcher Bryan Aguirre took a no-hitter in the seventh inning that was ended by a one-out single from Martin.
The Ravens take to the road for their next eight Heart games, traveling to Olathe on Friday and Saturday for a four-game series against No. 24 MNU.
