Ravens Softball picked up its eighth-straight win Saturday afternoon at home.
The (RV) Ravens swept the William Penn Statesmen without allowing a single run in the two games. The Ravens took the first game 6-0, then finished up the sweep with a 5-0 win.
Game 1
The Ravens jumped on the Statesmen early, plating 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Kassidy James singled to open the frame, then Abby Pressgrove bunted on. Baylee Knorr scored both runners with a double, then Knorr scored on ground out by Chloe Strickland to put the Ravens up 3-0.
That was the score until the fifth inning when the Ravens scored another 3 runs. Ryan Cooper started the rally with a single and advanced to third on a double by James. Pressgrove brought home Cooper with a sacrifice bunt and James scored from second on the play. With the bases empty, Knorr slugged a solo home run to put the Ravens up 6-0.
That was more than Bailey Selvage needed as she scattered 5 hits over 7 innings of work to earn the complete game shutout. Selvage struck out 6 batters and improved to 12-0 on the season.
Game 2
Lily SinghDhillon built off Selvage's stellar opening game by pitching 6 scoreless innings in the second game. SinghDhillon only gave up 5 hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out 3 WPU hitters to earn her second win. Lacey Foster finished up the game with a scoreless seventh inning.
The Ravens batters once again grabbed an early lead in the second inning when Strickland doubled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Knorr doubled the Ravens lead in the third inning when she singled home Cooper.
Cooper scored again in the fifth inning, using her speed to bunt for a hit and then she stole second base. Pressgrove drove Cooper in with a single, then James scored after reaching on a walk and also stealing second base.
The final blow came in the sixth inning as Rhiannon Martin drove in Riley Kennedy with a sacrifice fly.
The Ravens (24-4, 4-0 Heart) remain at home for a 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28 doubleheader against the MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers.
