Benedictine Softball finished off the week with its third sweep in Heart play, taking a doubleheader over Clarke University on Friday in Dubuque, Iowa, before sweeping a doubleheader from Mount Mercy University on Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Against the Pride on Friday, the No. 22-ranked Ravens earned wins of 6-0 and 4-3. On Saturday against the Mustangs, the Ravens earned wins of 6-4 and 6-5.
Game 1: Benedictine 6, Clarke 0
The Ravens scored all 6 runs in the 10th inning as they opened up the road trip with an extra-inning win over Clarke.
Clarke held Benedictine hitless until the sixth inning when Ryan Cooper led off with a double that was followed by a single from Abby Pressgrove.
After they failed to score a run after loading the bases in the sixth, they finally broke through in the 10th with 6 runs off 4 hits. Pressgrove got the rally started drawing a bases-loaded walk. That was followed by a 2-RBI single from Baylee Knorr to make it 3-0. Clare Heitz added a 2-RBI double before Chloe Strickland capped off the inning with an RBI single.
Bailey Selvage earned the win inside the circle, throwing all 10 innings. She finished with 12 strikeouts while giving up 3 hits.
Heitz finished with 2 doubles while Knorr added a single to her double at the plate.
Game 2: Benedictine 4, Clarke 3
Rhiannon Martin singled in Heitz in the sixth inning to give the Ravens back the lead that was enough to earn the win.
After Kera Willoughby allowed 3 runs off 5 hits over three innings, Lacey Foster threw the next three and two-thirds and was the beneficiary of the Martin RBI single to earn the win. Selvage finished off the game, recording the final out to earn the save.
Knorr and Heitz joined Martin with an RBI each as the Ravens finished with 8 hits.
Game 1: Benedictine 6, Mount Mercy 3
Three singles from Heitz, Strickland, and Martin led to a 3-run seventh as the Ravens opened play Saturday with their fifth straight win of the week.
Willoughby earned the win, throwing the first six and one-third innings. She allowed 2 earned runs off 6 hits before Selvage picked up her third save of the season, recording the final two outs of the game.
Pressgrove anchored the Ravens offensive efforts with 2 doubles. Heitz added a triple and 3 RBI while Strickland finished with 2 RBI while Martin added another RBI.
Game 2: Benedictine 6, Mount Mercy 5
Benedictine scored 3 unanswered runs over the sixth and seventh innings to cap off a comeback and finish off its third sweep of the week in the finale with Mount Mercy.
Knorr hit a solo home run in the sixth before singles from Heitz and Strickland scored the two runs in the seventh.
Selvage picked up the win, throwing six and one-third innings in relief of Lily SinghDhillon. Selvage gave up 3 runs off 7 hits with 4 strikeouts in the win.
The Ravens remain on the road for their next Heart doubleheader, traveling to Marshall, Mo, on April 13 to take on Missouri Valley College.
