Baseball returned home for the first time since March 17 on Saturday and Sunday, hosting Graceland University in a four-game Heart series.
After dropping the Saturday doubleheader, 7-4 and 8-0, the Ravens split the Sunday doubleheader taking game 2 12-8 after dropping the first game 19-6.
Game 1: Graceland 7, Benedictine 4
The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning en route to the series-opening win.
Ben DeLaForest earned the start on the hill. He threw the first four and two-thirds allowing 4 runs off 7 hits with 3 strikeouts to suffer the loss.
Jack Harpole and Jack Minnis finished the opener with a double each while Harpole and Minnis were joined by Brice Martin and Rhett Spell with an RBI each.
Game 2: Graceland 8, Benedictine 0
The Ravens finished the second game of the series with 6 hits, but couldn't solve Graceland's Elio Narvaez who struck out 6 in the win.
Harpole and Martin were joined by Dominic Ferrari, Brylan Haas, Tyler Marchand and Sam Schell with the Ravens 6 hits.
Game 3: Graceland 19, Benedictine 6
Benedictine finished the game with 13 hits, just two less than Graceland, but the Yellowjackets were able to capitalize more off their plate appearances in their third win of the series.
Nicholas Mozingo suffered the loss. He gave up 6 runs off 5 hits over one-third of an inning. Benedictine used three more pitchers to finish the game with the trio giving up 16 more runs off 10 hits.
Ashton Neuman and Minnis recorded home runs in the loss, while Harpole, Haas, and Marchand added a double each. Neuman and Minnis were joined by Nathan Olson, Jaden Zimmerman, and Marchand with an RBI each.
Game 4: Benedictine 12, Graceland 8
The Ravens belted out 14 hits as they finished off the series against the Yellowjackets with a win. Of those hits, 7 were for extra bases.
Minnis went 4 for 4 missing the cycle by a home run as he finished with 2 doubles, a triple, a single and 3 RBI. Harpole also finished with 3 RBI hitting 2 home runs. Rhett Spell finished with a home run while Martin added a double. Haas joined Spell with 2 RBI while Ferrari added the final RBI.
Ben Bowman earned the start. He threw three and one-third innings and earned the win as a result of the Ravens declaring the series finale as a staff outing. Dominic Susanka and Ethan Arnold bridged the gap between Bowman and Jackson Sarver who threw the last two innings to earn the save. Susanka threw two-thirds of an inning while Arnold threw one inning before Sarver allowed 1 hit with 4 strikeouts to earn the save.
Benedictine remains at home next weekend when they host another four-game Heart series with Clarke University at Noon on both April 13 and 14.
