Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer knocks off Williams Baptist

Men's Soccer improved to 2-0 with a shutout win Friday afternoon.

The Ravens dropped the (RV) Williams Baptist Eagles, 3-0, limiting the Eagles offensive attack.

Kody Argaez put the Ravens in front with a goal in the 17th minute on an assist from Feliipe Vargas. The sequence started with a long throw from Ravens keeper Noah Reuscher and then a through ball by Vargas to set up Argaez.

The Ravens held a slight advantage in possession in the opening half, out-shooting the Eagles 4-2, though both teams had one shot on goal. Reuscher was there to make the save for the Ravens on the Eagles shot that went on frame.

The second half belonged to the Ravens as they had four more shots on goal while also holding the Eagles without a shot on frame and no serious scoring chances.

With 26:28 left in the second half, Nicholas Rowe earned a penalty kick after being taken down just inside the Eagles 18-yard box. Adem Aroua stepped to the spot and slipped a shot past a diving keeper that deflected off the right post and slid all the way across goal, settling into the side netting on the left side to give the Ravens a 2-0 lead.

The final goal came partly from great play from the Ravens and an unfortunate bounce for the Eagles. Nima Samadian played forward to Fabian Viquez, who tried to slide a cross across the goal but it deflected off an Eagles defensive player into the net, giving the Ravens a 3-0 lead.

The Ravens (2-0) return to action in a week, traveling to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-America Christian.
