Women's Soccer continued its winning ways Wednesday evening.
The (RV) Ravens defeated the Park University Pirates, 3-1, their third win in a row.
The Ravens took a 2-0 lead into halftime thanks to a pair of 27th-minute goals.
The first was a Payton Vogelbacher goal off an assist from Jenna Wilken. Not even 20 seconds later, Wilken was the scorer thanks to an assist from Lizzy Gresch.
The Pirates had a chance to cut the Ravens lead in half a few minutes later, but their shot deflected off the right post as Ravens keeper Mackenzie Korzenecki was moving the opposite way. Otherwise, Korzenecki saved both Park shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
The Ravens pushed their lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute after the Pirates committed a foul inside the 18-yard box. Vogelbacher stepped to the spot and easily slotted her shot into the right corner for her second goal of the game.
The Pirates pulled a goal back late in the game, scoring in the 81st minute, but the Ravens held off any other chances from the visitors to secure their third-straight win.
Korzenecki finished with 5 saves for the Ravens and she and the Ravens have given up just that one goal in their winning streak. Wilken's goal was her team-high fourth of the season, and Vogelbacher is second with three goals.
The Ravens (4-3-1, 2-0 Heart) will travel to Mount Mercy University for a 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 match.
