Ravens Volleyball won a home, five-set thriller Friday night.
The (RV) Ravens fell behind 2-0 to the Baker University Wildcats, but stormed back to win the match, 3-2.
After dropping the first two sets by identical 25-23 scores, the Ravens flipped the switch and momentum in the third set. The Ravens jumped out to a 10-6 lead and then expanded that to a 19-12 lead before coasting to a 25-18 win. The set win pulled the Ravens back into the match with the Wildcats leading 2-1.
The Ravens put together an even more dominant effort in the fourth set, leveling the match at 2-2 with a 25-14 win. The Ravens forced the Wildcats to take two early timeouts and never looked back. Cate Milroy capped things off with an ace for the Ravens 25th point.
The Ravens never wavered in the fifth set, steam-rolling the Wildcats. Back-to-back aces by Haley Cahill gave the Ravens a 3-1 lead, then after the Wildcats made it 3-2, the Ravens went on a 12-4 run to close out the reverse sweep.
After recording just a .102 attack percentage in the opening set, the Ravens bounced back in a big way, especially in the final two sets, hitting .343 and .385 percent, respectively.
Five different Ravens reached double-digit kills Friday, with Hokulani Sagapolu getting 15, Regan Bruggeman with 14, Winny Harris with 12, and Mahala Sewell and Maura Lickteig each with 11 kills. Haley Cahill had 46 assists to go along with 3 aces. Cate Milroy had a match-high 5 aces and Evelyn Arreola had 22 digs.
The Ravens (12-3, 3-0 Heart) will get right back to it during Family Weekend as they'll host MidAmerica Nazarene University at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 in Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
