Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rally comes up short for Men's Basketball

Men's Basketball couldn't overcome a tough first half Wednesday night.

The Ravens lost at home to the Peru State College Bobcats, 64-52, despite outscoring the Bobcats in the second half.

Trailing by 14 to start the second half, the Ravens fell behind by as many as 20 points with 5 minutes to play in the game. The Ravens refused to give in, though battling back in the closing minutes to cut Peru's lead to single digits at one point.

Drew Purdy started the rally with a bucket and was followed by a 3-pointer from Jack Vander Woude to quickly cut 5 points off the deficit. Deaglan Sullivan added a pair of baskets, and then Purdy and Sullivan had back-to-back 3-point plays to trim the Bobcats lead to 58-50 with 1:20 left to play.

That's where the Ravens run lost momentum and the visitors went on to win by 12 points.

The Ravens struggled to find an offensive rhythm in the opening half, shooting 8-of-26 from the field as they found themselves down 33-19 at halftime. Sullivan scored 8 points in the opening half to lead the Ravens, finding ways to get in the lane for buckets.

Sullivan finished with 21 points, surpassing his career high by 11 points. Sullivan  also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Vander Woude scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds, and Purdy and Harrison Kisling both scored 7 points.

Next up for the Ravens (6-10, 5-7 Heart) will be a road trip to Clarke University at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.
